01How renting a car for taxi work works

You rent the car from a company that holds a passenger transport licence and works with the apps (a so-called fleet partner, partner flotowy). You usually pay weekly, and in return you get a car ready for work: insured, with inspections done and often with an LPG installation.

You will come across two models. In the first, you rent just the car. In the second, the partner also handles your app earnings: every week it pays out the money and deducts the car rent and its own fee. In our database, earnings settlement is offered in 51 of 111 offers.

02How much it costs to rent a car for Uber and Bolt

We found an exact weekly price in 52 offers. The cheapest costs 350 zł per week, the most expensive 1 600 zł, and half of the offers are cheaper than 740 zł per week.

The price depends most on the car's model and year, the type of drive (hybrid, LPG, electric), the mileage limit and what is included: comprehensive insurance (AC), servicing, tyres and a replacement car. Cheaper offers usually mean older cars or a longer minimum rental period.

On top of the rent, add your working costs: petrol or LPG, the app's commission and, if you use earnings settlement, the partner's weekly fee. Before choosing the cheapest offer, work out how much you will have left after all the fees.

03Hybrid or LPG?

Out of 111 offers in our database, 73 are hybrids and 93 are cars with an LPG installation. A combination of both is popular: a hybrid with LPG, e.g. a Toyota Corolla or Toyota C-HR.

A hybrid uses little fuel in the city, where a taxi driver spends most of the time. LPG lowers the cost of every kilometre driven, so it pays off with high mileage and trips outside the city. Electric cars are the cheapest to run, but they need access to a charger and planned breaks.

04Deposit

We found deposit information in 25 offers. 13 of them require no deposit, and the highest is 1 500 zł. The deposit (kaucja) is returned after you hand the car back, but the contract may allow deductions for damage, fines or missing fuel, so ask how long the refund takes.

05Driver requirements

To carry passengers through the apps you need a category B driving licence (prawo jazdy). Since 2024 it must be a Polish driving licence (a foreign one has to be exchanged). Usually you also need a certificate of no criminal record (zaświadczenie o niekaralności), medical and psychological examinations, and a driver ID displayed in the car.

Foreigners also need a document that entitles them to work in Poland. Many fleet partners help with the paperwork: in the filters you can choose offers with help with the licence and documents.

The rules on passenger transport keep changing. Check the current list of requirements with your chosen partner and at the city office (urząd miasta) where you want to drive.

06What to check in the contract

  • the minimum rental period and the notice period
  • the mileage limit and the fee for each kilometre over the limit
  • the excess (udział własny) in case of damage and what the comprehensive insurance (AC) covers
  • whether servicing, tyres and a replacement car during repairs are included in the price
  • when the deposit is returned and the reasons it can be reduced
  • how and when app earnings are settled and what the partner's fee is
  • contractual penalties, e.g. for returning the car early or smoking in it

07How to compare offers on NajemAuto

In the Cars for taxi category you can filter offers by city, app (Uber, Bolt, FreeNow), fuel type, deposit and gearbox, and compare selected cars side by side. We check prices daily, but always confirm the terms on the company's website before signing a contract.
